UEBT’s Biodiversity Barometer
15 years of UEBT research highlighted the amazing growth of biodiversity awareness, with more companies and brands taking a stand in favour of sourcing with respect for people and biodiversity.
2024 was the final year of the Biodiversity Barometer.
In 2024 we worked with an independent research firm on a worldwide survey that took a deep dive into consumers' biodiversity aspirations and expectations.
Over 86,000 people spanning 16 countries were surveyed annually from 2009 to 2024, and their responses provided valuable insights to companies and governments working on biodiversity.
The Biodiversity Barometer has shown that consumers have become more demanding, asking brands for transparent information on the impact of ingredient sourcing on biodiversity, and asking companies to inform them of the steps they can take to reduce consumption and make more sustainable choices.
Go deeper:
“Consumers feel strongly and personally connected to biodiversity, and they wish to see it protected and regenerated. They expect companies to take clear steps to do this, but as of now they do not see proof of this”
