Working with UEBT - Sourcing with Respect can be technical and difficult to explain to clients and other stakeholders. We have developed approved statements to help with this.

We no longer spell out our acronym.
We have added our strapline into our name when used for the first time like this UEBT - Sourcing with Respect.
After using our strapline first, you can then just call us UEBT.
There is no need to put “the” before UEBT.
You can refer to our standard as the UEBT standard.

UEBT - Sourcing with Respect is a non-profit association that promotes ethical sourcing with respect for people and biodiversity. They work to regenerate nature and secure a better future for people. COMPANY is contributing to a world in which all people and biodiversity thrive. We partner with UEBT - Sourcing with Respect, a nonprofit that promotes ethical sourcing for people and biodiversity. Companies all over the world partner with UEBT to build resilient botanical supply chains.
UEBT - Sourcing with Respect began as a United Nations initiative. It maintains strong partnerships with UN organisations such as the Convention on Biological Diversity and the UNCTAD BioTrade Initiative. UEBT is internationally recognised for its work advancing business contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Messages about the UEBT standard
UEBT sets good practices for how companies and their suppliers source botanicals.
UEBT standard is used to independently check that good practices are systemically applied in fields and farms where botanicals are sourced.
Companies that commit to UEBT standard show they are acting according to ethical principles and meeting robust requirements in their supply chains. These requirements focus on issues such as conservation and regeneration of biodiversity, sustainable use of biodiversity and climate resilience, fair and equitable benefit sharing, and respect for rights.
Messages for consumers
How we collect, grow and use botanical ingredientshas implications for our living planet. Our company is working with UEBT - Sourcing with Respect. This means we are on a journey to improve how we source botanicals with respect for people and nature.
You can support biodiversity and the people who depend on it by choosing brands or products where botanicals are sourced with respect for people and nature.

Messages about sourcing areas
A variety of herbs, flowers, roots, seeds, fruits and bark are used in beauty, food and health products, often as active ingredients, oils, fragrances or flavours. These ingredients can be harvested from small family farms or collected from the wild by local people.
Working with UEBT, we have committed to improve our sourcing of ingredients from biodiversity so that it adheres to standards on biodiversity regeneration, fair and equitable benefit sharing, local development and labour rights.
